Ballroom dancing is fun, improves endurance, overall health, builds confidence and aids in weight loss. A partner is not required to participate in ballroom classes, individuals welcome. Coaches practice time included at end of each class. Please do not wear rubber soled shoes, they stick to the dance floor and hinder movement.
BALLROOM: BEGINNER QUICKSTEP Session A Students will learn simple basic Quickstep figures that fit easily with music. The modern Quickstep is a joyful dance that invites a care-free interpretation of its bright and energetic rhythm. Students must complete the beginner Waltz & Foxtrot class to be eligible for enrollment or have comparable experience.
BALLROOM: BEGINNER WALTZ & RHYTHM FOXTROT Session A These classic dances are ideal for beginners who have some or no dance experience, as they will teach you the fundamental skills and steps, basic figures, how to combine steps easily, and are designed to build confidence. Students will learn American Bronze level syllabus figures focusing on proper technique, partnering skills and social dance etiquette.
BALLROOM: BEGINNER CHA - CHA & EAST COAST SWING Session B Ideal for beginners and individuals with some dance experience, students will learn the fundamental skills and steps to American style Cha-cha (emphasizes Cuban motion and expressive body rhythm) and East Coast Swing (a fun, upbeat dance). Both lend themselves to modern popular music and are danced at local venues. Students will learn swing hip motion, Latin Cuban motion, basic syllabus figures, proper hold and dance technique.
